Trio is sponsoring a showcase for short films in Manhattan this week.
The arts channel will back 'The Fifth Annual Shorts International Film
Festival' at the Loews Lincoln Center Theater and Tribeca Grand Hotel Nov. 12
through 15, president and CEO Bill Haber announced Monday.
A yearly showcase for up-and-coming, as well as well-established, directors,
actors and writers, this year's festival encompasses 106 movies, including 10
world premieres, 15 U.S. premieres and 45 short films.
Each film is classified into one of seven categories: animation, student,
digital, drama, documentary, comedy and experimental.
The winner from each category will be awarded $2,000 in cash, a Tourneau
watch and become eligible, with the exception of digital and documentary films,
for Academy Award consideration.
'Trio supports the creative development of both new and established artists,
and we felt that sponsoring the Shorts International Film Festival gave us the
perfect opportunity to publicly show our steadfast support for the arts in New
York City,' Haber said in a prepared statement.
