The pawn shop business continues to capture cable viewer's attention as TruTV's Aug. 16 debut of reality series Hardcore Pawn drew 2 million viewers - a record series premiere for the network.
The series, which takes a behind-the-scenes look at Detroit's American Jewelry and Loan pawn shop, topped the 1.7 million viewers garnered by the April 12 debut of reality series Southern Fried Stings, according to the network. Hardcore Pawn also set network records in several key demographic categories, including adults 18-49 (1 million viewers) and men 18-49 (568,000), said the network.
Hardcore Pawn's second original episode at 10:30 p.m. averaged 1.7 million viewers; 882,000 adults 18-49; and 550,000 men 18-49.
"Hardcore Pawn's outstanding premiere-night performance has gotten this new series off to a great start," said Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager of truTV in a statement. "Last night's premiere is the latest example of how truTV continues to strengthen its brand through programming that really resonates with both total viewers and key demos."
