TV-listings and content service “TV Guide Mobile” will be available for the new “Palm Treo 700w” smart phone from Verizon Wireless, mobile-media company Handmark Inc. announced Thursday.
Verizon Wireless subscribers with Treo 700w smart phones running Microsoft Corp.’s “Windows Mobile 5.0” will have access to daily local TV listings from TV Guide; the ability to search TVGuide.com's (www.tvguide.com) "Big Movie Guide" and “Show Guide” databases by title, genre or celebrity; customization through features such as "My Watch List," which keeps users’ favorite programs in one place; and Hollywood news, gossip and commentary from TVGuide.com.
“We're excited to make TV Guide Mobile available for the Palm Treo 700w smart phone from Verizon Wireless through Handmark, a premier innovator in mobile media," Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. senior vice president and general manager of digital media Richard Cusick said in a prepared statement. "This represents the first of many releases of TV Guide services for next-generation mobile devices.”
