TV Guide’s Local Insertion Base Growing

TV Guide Channel said it has already added more than 1 million subscribers to its local-ad-sales insertion base in 2004.

The Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc.-owned network said the additions of Time Warner Cable in Columbus, Ohio; Comcast Corp. in Minneapolis; and Comcast and Charter Communications Inc. in Sacramento, Calif., have boosted its total number of subscribers that can be reached by local advertising to nearly 26 million.

"Cable operators are increasingly taking advantage of local ad opportunities on TV Guide Channel, which offers a compelling environment with long-form advertising opportunities, backed by one of television’s most trusted, recognized brands," executive vice president of TV Guide affiliate sales and marketing Ray Hopkins said in a prepared statement.
