TV Guide Channel announced a digital-acquisition and retention affiliate campaign Wednesday, themed "Surround Yourself with Music."
Its third in a series of digital-upgrade campaigns since January 2002, the Surround Yourself campaign and sweepstakes will kick off Jan. 1, supported by on-air, print and online advertising.
The January effort will concentrate on raising consumer awareness of the scores of commercial-free music channels available on digital cable. TV Guide said it will run more than 1,800 promo spots.
As part of the promotion, the channel's Music News program, hosted by Katie Wagner, will invite viewers to the www.tvguide.com Web site daily throughout January to register to win one of 31 RCA surround-sound systems or to instantly win a set of RCA digital wireless headphones.
That Web site also will offer discounts on other RCA wireless products and information on the benefits of digital-cable music channels.
The channel's two previous affiliate campaigns were its "What's on Digital Acquisition Campaign" last January and the "Get Your Wings" pay-per-view campaign last June.
"We anticipate that by using the universal popularity of music as a backdrop, we can continue to build on our success and increase digital-cable penetration," TV Guide Networks senior vice president of marketing Amy Bates said in a prepared statement.
