TV Land Drops `Dukes Of Hazzard' Reruns

In the wake of the controversy over the Confederate flag, TV Land has pulled episodes of the iconic 1980’s series Dukes of Hazzard.

A Tv Land spokesperson confirmed the network’s removal Monday of the classic series, in which the main characters played by John Schneider and Tom Wopat rode in a 1969 Dodge Charger with the Confederate battle flag on its roof.

The network would not give a reason for pulling the series, which ran on CBS from 1979 to 1985. The decision however, comes amid a national debate over the symbolism and use of the flag.

The network had just started running Dukes Of Hazzard June 10th twice daily during the late afternoon time period.

TV Land last November pulled episodes of The Cosby Show after the comedian faced new and renewed allegations of sexual assault from numerous women.
