TV Land will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Trek with a primetime special Friday, Sept. 8 -- the exact anniversary of the series’ 1966 premiere.
The network will air four of the best-remembered episodes -- including the premiere and the installment featuring TV's first interracial kiss -- from 8 p.m.-midnight (EST/PST).
Star Trek joins TV Land’s lineup Nov. 17. TVLand.com’s (www.tvland.com) new broadband-video player will also stream full-length episodes of the series, starting in November.
“Star Trek forever changed the landscape of television and science fiction and, to this day, it remains a cornerstone of pop culture," TV Land and Nick at Nite president Larry W. Jones said in a prepared statement. "It continues to attract passionate fans, and we are thrilled to mark this monumental anniversary on TV Land.”
