TV Land Gets 'Hot In Cleveland' With Production On First Original Sitcom

TV Land is scheduled to commence production on its first original sitcom, Hot In Cleveland, on May 10.
Marking the network's first original foray with the genre, Hot In Cleveland the series stars Valerie Bertinelli, Betty White, Jane Leeves (Frasier) and Wendy Malick (Just Shoot Me). The skein is being executive-produced by Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions and is helmed by Emmy Award-winning Suzanne Martin (Frasier, Ellen), who also is serving as executive producer, show runner and writer. Its 10-episode rookie run is slated to begin on June 16 at 10 p.m.
Hot In Cleveland orbits around three  best friends from Los Angeles -- novelist Melanie Moretti (Bertinelli), eye-brow archer to the stars Joy Scroggs (Leeves) and former soap star Victoria Chase (Malick) -- who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an unexpected landing. After discovering that they are hot in Cleveland, they decide to stay and rent a house with a very feisty caretaker (White).
Hot In Cleveland precedes TV Land's other original sitcom entry, Retired at 35, which feautures George Segal, Johnathan McClain, Saturday Night Live alum Casey Wilson, Jessica Walter and Christine Ebersole. The multicamera Retired at 35 follows a successful businessman (McClain), who chucks the New York City rat race and retires to Florida, three decades ahead of time/ He ends up moving into his parents' Florida condominium, joining his father (Segal) in a brand new world of sunshine and fun, from slow-moving softball games to really early dinners. Mom (Walter) and a cast of characters look on skeptically as father and son bond again, enjoying the glories of total irresponsibility.
