TV One boosted its household count from 33.8 million to nearly 34.9 million in December, according to Nielsen Media Research universe estimates.
The African-American-targeted network added more than 1 million households during the month, increasing its subscriber base 42% from January 2006-January 2007.
Comcast -- a major investor in the network, along with Radio One -- launched TV One on basic cable in Memphis and Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Tucson, Ariz.; and Taos, Gallup and Silver City, N.M.
TV One also gained carriage from Time Warner Cable in Greensboro, N.C., and Columbia, S.C.; and on Buckeye CableSystem in Toledo, Ohio.
“TV One is now available to cable customers in 45 of the top 50 African-American markets," executive vice president of affiliate sales and marketing Brad Samuels said in a prepared statement.
