TV One Gets Two Off-Nets

TV One said Friday that it has acquired the off-network rights to City of Angels
and Under One Roof
from King World Television.

The African-American-targeted network, backed by Comcast Corp. and Radio One Inc., will air all 24 episodes of City of Angels
and all six of Under One Roof
, both of which appeared on CBS.

City of Angels
was created and produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Stephen Bochco in association with CBS Productions. It examines the personal and professional lives of the doctors and nurses at an inner-city hospital as they attempt to treat patients under difficult circumstances.

Under One Roof
stars James Earl Jones as the patriarch of a middle-class African-American family dealing with the pressures of adjusting to a new life in the same Seattle household after his son and family return from overseas duty in the military.

TV One plans to launch in January.
