Upstart African-American network TV One Monday announced its first non-Comcast Corp. affiliation deal, inking an MSO-wide carriage agreement with Insight Communications Co. Inc.
Insight -- which currently carries TV One in its Louisville, Ky. Metro/Southern Indiana cable system -- will make the network available to an additional 150,000 expanded-basic customers in two undisclosed markets by June 30.
TV One also has a corporate carriage deal with Comcast, which co-owns the network along with Radio One Inc.
Overall, the network is currently in 4.5 million homes.
“Insight is pleased to be one of the first operators to launch TV One’s exciting new service,” senior vice president of marketing and programming Pam Halling said in a prepared statement.
“This agreement represents Insight’s continued commitment to provide our customers with the widest possible array of programming choices,” she added.
