TV Games Network this week will present an array of live programming in conjunction with the 136th running of the Belmont Stakes June 5 and Smarty Jones’ quest to become the first horse to capture the sport’s Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978.
Coverage by the interactive horse-racing network, which reaches some 12.5 million homes, will be hosted Todd Schrupp and Matt Carothers, with racing analyst Frank Lyons and reporter Jeff Lifson providing late-breaking news, predictions and live interviews with jockeys, owners and trainers.
TVG comes out of the gate on its “Belmont Week” Wednesday at 11 a.m. with live coverage of the Belmont Park post-position draw, in which each horse's starting-gate position is determined.
The network will also present live racing and expert commentary from Belmont Thursday from 12:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
On the day of the race, which will be covered by NBC, TVG will bring viewers more than six hours of live coverage, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and concluding with a recap show airing at 7 p.m.
Throughout the week, TVG will be trackside with live reports, including Smarty Jones’ arrival at Belmont Park in New York, as well as all of the press conferences surrounding the favorite and other updates on how the three-year-old, undefeated colt and his jockey, trainer and owner are all gearing up for the big race.
