Ohio's Massillon Cable TV will use TVGateway LLC's electronic programming
guide in its interactive-TV rollout under a deal forged recently.
Massillon has deployed TVGateway's interactive programming guide to
several-thousand digital-cable subscribers in Massillon and Wooster, Ohio.
The deployment contains several interactive applications, including
content-search functions by category, day or time slot; favorite-channel lists;
and more than 40 digital-music channels.
Massillon will receive a digitally compressed version of the TVGateway IPG
via its Headend in the Sky satellite link. It is also using TVGateway's
'CableWare' middleware to manage the two-way interactive applications.
'We chose to incorporate the TVGateway interactive program guide as a basic
element of our digital-service offering because of the top-quality features it
provides and the flexibility it enables through open integration standards,'
Massillon president Bob Gessner said.
'TVGateway offers a greater scale of economy than other leading IPGs, while
also utilizing fewer resources within the set-top box,' he added.
TVGateway is a joint venture of MSOs Adelphia Communications Corp., Charter
Communications Inc., Comcast Corp. and Cox Communications Inc. and
interactive-TV-technology provider WorldGate Communications
