TVN Entertainment Corp. added to its portfolio of cable-network video-on-demand programming Monday by announcing distribution agreements with several networks, including Disney Channel and Cable News Network.
The deals give the pay-per-view content purveyor VOD-carriage rights to more than 30 networks, TVN executives said.
Also included in the deals is content from SoapNet, Toon Disney, ABC Family, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Courtroom Television Network, Comcast SportsNet, The Golf Channel, Outdoor Life Network, BBC America, QVC, Sundance Channel, AtomFilms, Bloomberg Television and C-SPAN.
TVN senior vice president of business development Jim Riley said the agreements, along with the network's Cable Television Laboratories Inc.-based open platform, provide operators with a flexible and viable on-demand service.
"Once our cable affiliates asked us to create a simple and economical process to introduce network brands into the VOD environment, we quickly expanded our capabilities to do so," Riley said in a prepared statement.
"Our open platform, based on the CableLabs specification, gives both cable operators and networks the flexibility they need to offer a compelling on-demand product," he added.
