The Weather Channel will add local traffic content to its “Local on the 8s” in five major markets May 3, the network said Friday.
The real-time traffic data, provided by Traffic Pulse, will launch Tuesday in Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas, with 18 more markets to be added by the end of May, TWC said.
“Like the weather, traffic patterns play a vital role in the lives of millions of Americans every day," TWC president Debora Wilson said in a prepared statement.
“We are constantly exploring new ways to add relevant information to our broadcasts and online content offerings,” she added. “Our research indicates that traffic is something that consumers directly associate with weather. By integrating Traffic Pulse's state-of-the-art traffic information into our weather forecasts and reports, we are adding significant value for our viewers, advertisers and marketing partners.”
