TWC `Celebrates' Andrew's 10th

As many cable networks prep up Sept. 11 one-year-later retrospectives and
live commemoration coverage, The Weather Channel is gearing for another
anniversary milestone -- one decade after Hurricane Andrew hit portions of
Florida and Louisiana, resulting in one of the costliest natural disasters in
U.S. history.

The network will present a series of Andrew-themed live reports from 7 a.m.
to 11 p.m. Aug. 24.

Dennis Smith and Jim Cantore, the TWC on-camera forecasters who tracked
Andrew from the field, will file reports from Florida throughout the day, with
hurricane expert Dr. Steve Lyons anchoring segments from Miami.

An encore Atmospheres episode on Hurricane Andrew will be cablecast at
5 p.m. and repeated the next night.

Andrew anniversary features will also be posted on starting two
weeks ahead of the channel's live coverage.
