TWC Names Townsend CMO For East Region

Time Warner Cable has hired Todd Townsend, previously head of consumer and corporate marketing at Qwest Communications, as chief marketing officer for its East Region.

Townsend will oversee customer acquisition and retention for the operator's East Region, as well as other areas including field marketing, traditional advertising, marketing communications, online support, promotions, inbound sales and outbound telemarketing. Most recently, he was vice president of consumer marketing, e-business and corporate marketing for Qwest. Prior to that Townsend was CMO at Sonic Drive In Restaurants and held management positions at Yahoo and Sprint.

Last month, TWC named Jeffrey Hirsch executive vice president and corporate chief marketing officer, replacing Sam Howe.

Time Warner Cable also announced four new additions to its marketing team for the East Region: Jennifer Friedman, vice president of subscriber acquisition, who previously was in charge of marketing for software vendor TOA Technologies; Alessandra Otero-Reiss, vice president of multicultural marketing, formerly director of targeted marketing for Time Warner Cable in New York City; Tanita Alexander, vice president of customer relationship management, who formerly was with Wells Fargo/Wachovia Bank as segment management leader of consumer credit card marketing; and Justin Wolf, vice president of product management, who most recently was director of product management at AOL Autos and Autoblog.

Townsend, Alexander and Wolf will be based in Charlotte, N.C. Friedman and Otero-Reiss are located in New York.

Time Warner Cable's East Region serves more than 5.9 million residential and business customers in more than 1,300 cities in nine states: Alabama, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
