More viewers seeking news on Hurricane Frances this past weekend turned to The Weather Channel than to any cable news channel.
TWC posted total-day (5 a.m.-2 a.m.) ratings of 1.2 Friday, 1.7 Saturday and 1.6 Sunday, according to Nielsen Media Research.
In comparison, on Saturday, Fox News Channel earned a 1.5, Cable News Network a 1.2 and MSNBC a 0.5, and Sunday, the figures were 1.3, 1.2 and 0.4, respectively.
TWC’s top quarter-hour over the weekend occurred at 9 a.m. (EST) Sunday with a 3.1 peak household rating and an average of 2.7 million homes. Saturday’s top quarter-hour was a 2.7 at 9:30 a.m.
According to Nielsen, the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 5 was the network’s highest-rated week ever.
TWC earned a 1.3 total-day rating Aug. 13 when Hurricane Charley reached landfall.
