Time Warner Cable’s San Diego division has added TV Japan to its digital cable lineup.
The channel, which launched Nov. 5, is marketed as a premium service and has been placed on Ch. 680. TV Japan telecasts many of its live news programs with English translation as a second audio service or with an English language crawl.
"TV Japan is delighted to expand our service to the Japanese community of San Diego," said Koki Matsumoto, executive vice president of TV Japan, noting that San Diego is one of the top 10 markets in terms of Japanese population.
The channel costs $25 a month, in addition to digital cable subscription. But new subscribers through the end of December can participate in the channel's "Big Family Campaign," receiving a $50 rebate and a chance to win one of 500 prizes provided by the channel.
