Expanding its live streaming platform reach, Twitter has launched its OTT video app for Android TV, which powers devices such as the Nexus Player, Nvidia Shield, Razer Forge TV, select smart TVs from Sharp and Sony, and the new MiBox from Xiaomi.
Twitter, which nabbed streaming rights for Thursday night NFL games, is launching the app in time for tonight’s game between the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers, and spread the word on Twitter:

Twitter has also launched live video apps for Apple TV devices, Amazon Fire TV boxes and sticks and the Xbox One.
Twitter, which recently announced a layoff and the shuttering of the Vine mobile app as part of a reorg aimed at driving profitability, hopes that live TV streaming of sporting events, including select games from Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League, will help it grow and expand into new markets.
Twitter’s first NFL live stream – the Sept. 15 game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets – attracted 2.1 million viewers.
