Founding UPN CEO Lucie Salhany has joined The Football Network's board of
Since running UPN from 1994 through 1997, Salhany has operated Boston-based
consulting firm JHMedia, with clients including Macy's.
TFN -- which plans to launch its niche sports service this fall after two
years of gestation -- also named former Capital Cities/ABC Inc. and Sony Corp.
executive Jon Peisinger a board member.
Peisinger -- who ran video-enterprise divisions at both CapCities/ABC and
Sony during the 1990s -- currently heads Creative Branding Systems, a
merchandising and licensing company with some sports dealings.
TFN faces competition from The NFL Channel, the National Football League's
in-house venture overseen by former ESPN president Steve Bornstein.
NFL Channel already has a distribution agreement with DirecTV Inc. and, like
TFN, it is pursuing cable-operator agreements ahead of a fall-2003
