Tyson, Foxx To Receive BET Honors

Legendary actress Cicely Tyson and actor/comedian Jamie Foxx will be honored as part of Black Entertainment Television's fourth annual BET Honors special set to air Feb. 21.

The special, which recognizes the lifetime contributions and exceptional service of individuals to African-American culture in music, media, film, service and education, will also honor supermodel Iman; publishing mogul Linda Johnson Rice; musician/composer Herbie Hancock and historian/educator Lonnie Bunch, according to network officials.

Last year's show, which honored Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Ruth Simmons and Keith Black, averaged 2.4 million viewers, according to BET.

Proceeds from this year's BET Honors private ticket sales will be given to the Washington, D.C. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc., said the network.
