uControl Adds Funding, VP Pair

uControl, a provider of next-generation home security and automation solutions has bolstered its executive suite and added almost $4 million in further investments.
The Austin, Tex.-headquartered company, which counts now Comporium Communications, Massillion Cable TV  and NewWave Communications among its clients, has hired two new executives, Tom Chmielewski who joins as vice president, sales, and David Costilow as vice president, customer services.
uControl also recently brought in another $3.9 million in funding to will close its current investment round with some $9 million. Since its inception in November 2006, uControl's funding has come through the private sector, angels, customers and partners, according to company officials.

Chmielewski brings years of experience to his position as vice president of sales, including his tenure at Radialpoint, where he served as vice president worldwide sales and services, trebling their customer base in the U.S. and Europe, and growing recurring revenues. He also has ties to CTAM, where he was a founding member of the Europe chapter. He also held executive roles at BroadJump, through its acquisition by Motive, and most recently with Rackspace.

Prior to joining uControl, Costilow held various executive and management roles at leading technology companies including Motive, AlterPoint, Oracle, Coopers & Lybrand, and most recently 2Wire where he managed the Solution Services team.

"From product development to market deployment, David Costilow brings a wealth of experience supporting and delivering solutions to broadband service providers while at 2Wire, Motive and AlterPoint. David is tasked with delivering and supporting our SMA solutions with all customers. Tom Chmielewski will be charged with growing uControl's broadband service provider customer base. We are especially focused on Tom's International experience as we look to grow the uControl presence globally."
