UFC Enters Fantasy-Gaming Arena

Can the Ultimate Fighting Championship spawn the ultimate fantasy-sports contest?

STATS LLC and UFC parent Zuffa LLC Wednesday introduced “Ultimate Fantasy Pick'em,” set to debut Nov. 5 with the finale of Spike TV’s The Ultimate Fighter 2 in Las Vegas.

The game requires participants to predict the winning fighter, victory type (submission via choke, knockout punches, etc.) and the minute and round the match ends for each of the eight matches of a typical UFC event.

Registration costs $9.95, and the grand-prize winner will receive two VIP tickets to UFC 56: Full Force in Las Vegas Saturday, Nov. 19; complimentary airfare for two from the nearest major airport in the continental United States; double-occupancy hotel accommodations for two days and two nights; and dinner for two.

“We are pleased to be working with STATS LLC to bring the Ultimate Fighting Championship brand of MMA [mixed martial arts] to the world of fantasy sports," UFC president Dana White said in a prepared statement. "Ultimate Fantasy Pick'em is an exciting and entertaining game, and we look forward to the impact it will have on our growing fan base.”
