Unimas Scores 3.3 Million Viewers with Mexico-Jamaica

World Cup Qualifier Marks Second-Largest Audience in Network History

Unimas’ telecast of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match between Mexico and Jamaica generated the second largest audience in the history of the network previously known as TeleFutura.

The scoreless draw averaged 3.3 million viewers on Feb. 6, according to Nielsen data, to trail only what was then TeleFutura’s coverage of the June 21, 2007 Gold Cup match between Mexico and Guadeloupe that averaged 3.5 million watchers.

Moreover, Mexico-Jamaica ranks as the second highest-rated sports event across all Spanish-language television in the 2012-13 TV season thus far among total viewers and persons 18 to 49, with the telecast delivering 1.9 million of those viewers. The match from Azteca Stadium in Mexico City also scored with 1 million persons 18 to 34.

All told, some 6 million tuned in some or all of the first round of the CONCACAF hexagonal from which three teams will qualify for the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
