Universal Sports Network is continuing its rollout on Cox Communications’ new sports tier.
Through a multiyear deal, Universal Sports in HD is available to Cox’s Advanced TV subscribers on the MSO’s new Sports Pak 2.
The Cox launch comes on the heels of Universal’s rollout on Time Warner Cable systems in August.
The Olympic, endurance and adventure sports network is currently available on Cox systems serving Ohio, Rhode Island, Oklahoma and Omaha, as well as in Sun Valley and Kansas, the two latest markets where the MSO is offering Sports Pak 2. Cox will roll out Universal Sports in other parts of its footprint in the months to come.
The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, also gives Cox complete TV Everywhere rights.
“We are excited to partner with Cox Communications on the distribution of our exclusive global sports programming,” said Universal Sports president Scott Brown. “We look forward to serving Cox customers with world-class coverage on multiple platforms and devices as we continue to grow the reach of our network.”
Noted Cox Oklahoma director of communications Christine Martin: “Cox is committed to providing our customers with the content that’s important to them. With the addition of Universal Sports Network, our customers will be able to view their favorite global sports programming whenever and wherever they want.”
