Universal Sports Network will step to the podium for the first time with a new highlights show on Aug. 8.
Podium 360 is a half-hour recap/preview program showcasing action, results and stories from Olympic and endurance athletes. The monthly show bows at 7:30 p.m. (ET) on Aug. 8. Podium 360 will also be available on UniversalSports.com to the network’s authenticated users at http://universalsports.com/video/universal-sports-network-watch-live/.
On the initial installment of Podium 360, Universal Sports, which is slated to roll out on the majority of Time Warner Cable systems late this month, will recap the best of the 2013 FINA World Aquatics Championships, including 16-year-old Katie Ledecky’s world record performance in the 1500-meter freestyle; the Diamond League competition, featuring Usain Bolt’s return to London; the FIVB Beach Volleyball Grand Slam; and the 2013 BMX World Championships. The show will also preview the IAAF Track and Field World Championships in Moscow from August 10-18, and cycling’s final grand tour of the season, the Vuelta a España, starting August 24.
“Podium 360 will capture the ups and downs, the winners and losers, and all of the action of the sports our fans are passionate about,” said Dean Walker, Universal Sports senior vice president of production, in a statement. “On a network that covers more than 30 sports year-round, Podium 360 provides viewers with a comprehensive look at recent competitions and a chance to catch up on what they might have missed.”
