Univision Goes Mobile With Verizon’s go90

Net Seeks Millennial Eyes With Programming Pact

Verizon Wireless will make entertainment, sports and other video-on-demand content from Univision available to its customers via the go90 mobile platform.

The partnership is meant to increase Univision’s reach with Latino millennials, among the most-active users of smartphone-delivered digital video, the Spanish-language broadcaster said.

Content now on go90 includes a selection of live Liga MX matches, along with recently-aired episodes of the primetime telenovelas supplied by Mexico’s Televisa. Users can also access content from Univision digital network Flama and daily highlights from Univision News.

“With Hispanic smartphone penetration at 82% and app engagement levels that are 18% higher than the general population, go90 is an ideal way for us to further serve our highly engaged digital audiences,” Tonia O’Connor, Univision’s president of content distribution and corporate business development, said. “We applaud Verizon for its innovation in building a robust mobile platform and for recognizing the opportunity that comes with an investment in Hispanic consumers.”
