Univision Sets 'Roadblock' For April 8 Census Message

Encouraging Latinos to make their presence known in the 2010 U.S. Census, Univision will form a primetime, cross-platform "roadblock" on April 8.
On Thursday, the U.S. Spanish-language media leader plans to run a 60-second editorial message from Univision Networks president Cesar Conde, built around its existing campaign called "Ya Es Hora, Hágase Contar" ("It's Time, Make Yourself Count").
The message will appear on broadcast networks Univision and TeleFutura, cable cousin Galavisión, Univision Móvil, Univision.com, and Univision Radio, as well as its associated social media platforms.
Univision has been airing a wide-ranging campaign with a number of PSAs, led by news anchor Maria Elena Salinas, pushing viewers to complete the survey.  Additionally, it has run a number of related vignettes.
Minorities, including Hispanics, have tended to avoid the Census, fearing confidentiality breaches and immigration issues.
