Univision Snares Six Official Sponsors for Sports Award Show

Univision Deportes has secured deals with six companies as the official sponsors of its inaugural award show.

Pepsi, Allstate, Jack Daniel’s, MetroPCS, Miller Lite and Snickers have all signed on to support Premios Univision Deportes, the two-hour presentation honoring top athletes and teams from the leagues and sports that Hispanics care about most that will play out in Miami on Dec. 18 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) and be simulcast on broadcst network UniMas and cable channel Univision Deportes Network.

Pepsi is the co-presenting sponsor of Premios Univision Deportes, with a package that makes it the official supporter of the show's halftime show, a musical performance with one of today’s most renowned Latin artist.

Allstate is expected to activate an integrated campaign around its own award category “El Mejor Momento de la Mala Suerte” (The Best Bad Luck Moment), with fans voting for ‘La Mejor Jugada de la Mala Suerte en Brasil’ (Bad Luck’s Best Play in Brazil) by selecting their moment of choice among 10 videos depicting bad luck moments from this year’s World Cup tournament. Videos can be viewed online at univisiondeportes.com/PremioMalaSuerte. The winning fan-selected video will be announced during the telecast by Allstate character, Mala Suerte. The insurer also has its hands around the Premios Univision Deportes pre-show, featuring its Allstate blue carpet.

As the official spirits sponsor of Premios Univision Deportes, Jack Daniels' package includes an on-air integration, titled “Momentos Como Nunca 2014” (Plays Like Never Before 2014), a video of bold and record-breaking sports highlights of the year.

MetroPCS will present the “What Would You Have Done?” segment, a video featuring Hispanic America’s favorite athletes. During this 60-second in-show video montage, athletes will give fans a glimpse into their personal life by sharing what they would have done with their lives if they had not become a professional athlete.

Miller Lite will present the "breakthrough athlete of the year" award. The sponsorship includes custom promotional spots and in-show features highlighting the category’s three nominees, James Rodriguez, Diego Costa and Jose Abreu.

For its part, Snickers will present the "Liga MX champion’s award," including an in-show highlight video of the best sports moments for both the Clausura and Apertura championship teams.

Deal terms were not disclosed.

“We are proud to welcome our sponsors to the first ever sports award show for Hispanic America,” said Carlos Deschapelles, senior vice president of sports sales, Univision Communications Inc. “Our marketing partners recognize that sports are one of the biggest passion points for Hispanics and that Univision Deportes is the No. 1 destination to reach an engaged Hispanic sports fan base.”
