Los Angeles -- Univision Communications Inc. modified the makeup of its
forthcoming Spanish-language digital tier and named a former TVN Entertainment
Corp. executive to manage the operation, reports Steve Donahue.
The tier will contain five Spanish-language digi-nets by the end of the
Two of those channels, TeleHit and Ritmoson Latino, were originally designed
as all-music-video networks featuring Latino talent.
Both will now offer concerts, entertainment-news segments and lifestyle
magazine-format series, as well as videos.
De Pelicula and De Pelicula Clasico, two all-film services featuring titles
from Spain, Mexico and Latin America; and Bandamax, featuring music videos in
Tex-Mex and other Mexican genres, round out the tier.
Grupo Televisa SA will program all five services. Univision didn't announce
cable affiliates for the new channels.
Univision and Grupo Televisa named Mark Feldman, TVN's former chief operating
officer, to run the venture from Los Angeles.
