Univision Communications has elevated Sarah Madigan to the newly created position of executive vice president of content distribution.
Madigan, who joined the U.S. Spanish-language media leader, has been serving as senior vice president of business affairs, will oversee content sales and strategy for digital and linear distribution in her new post. She will continue to be based in Univision’s New York headquarters and report to Tonia O’Connor, president of content distribution and corporate business development.
Univision’s content distribution team is responsible for carriage of all the company’s digital services, including its UVideos Digital Network, Flama, a new digital offering for Hispanics that will feature original digital content, and the expansion of the company’s content portfolio across all platforms in partnerships with its existing and new affiliates.
Madigan has overseen distribution agreements for Univision’s TV Everywhere service, while securing distribution for the new cable sports, news and novela networks with partners, including DirecTV, Cablevision, Dish Network, AT&T and Verizon, as well as becoming the first Hispanic media company to bring video content to Hulu and Xbox.
“Sarah’s leadership and dedication have been instrumental in our success to transform UCI into a leading multimedia company that reflects the dynamic audience we serve,” O’Connor said in announcing the promotion. “She has played an important role in helping us achieve our goals of expanding the portfolio and increasing the distribution of our services on the devices our ever-growing audience uses on a daily basis.”
