US Cable Buys ISP

Montvale, N.J.-US Cable Corp. last week said it bought National Internet Source Inc., a New Jersey-based Internet services provider, for an undisclosed sum.

NIS provides dial-up and digital subscriber line Internet service, as well as Web hosting and Web site design services, all of which will be incorporated into its US Cable of Paramus-Hillsdale LLC subsidiary.

US Cable said in a statement that the combination helps the company bundle its video services with new high-speed data services.

The companies said they would also continue to develop and market a new wireless high-speed data service called Warp Drive Networks, which provides office complexes and commercial buildings with a last-mile link to the Internet.

US Cable of Paramus-Hillsdale passes about 12,000 homes. In all, US Cable passes about 245,000 homes in 10 states.
