NBC Sports Group said 2.12 million unique users live-streamed the men’s hockey semifinal between Team USA and Team Canada in Sochi on Friday, setting a new streaming record for its digital division.

The game, offered to authenticated pay-TV subs at NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports Live Extra app on smartphones and tablets, outran NBC’s non-authenticated streaming of Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012, which drew 2.105 million uniques. Team Canada topped the U.S. men’s team 1-0.

“In conjunction with our MVPD partners, we’re proud to provide compelling live streams, such as today’s record-setting game, that are advancing ‘TV Everywhere’ across the entire industry,” said Rick Cordella, SVP & GM, Digital Media, NBC Sports Group, in a statement.

On the women’s side, Canada’s 3-2 gold medal-winning overtime victory over the U.S. on Thursday drew 1.2 million unique streaming users and pumped out 34.9 million minutes of online consumption, at the time making it the most-streamed game for NBC Sports outside of Super Bowl XLVI.

As part of its remaining live streaming slate for the games, NBC Sports will offer Team USA’s bronze medal men’s hockey game vs. Finland at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, the Canada-Sweden gold medal men’s hockey game at 7 a.m. ET on Sunday, and the Winter Games Closing Ceremony at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday.
