USA Benches ‘Benched’

USA continues to reshape its original series lineup, this time benching freshman comedy Benched after its rookie run.

Benched, which debuted in October to 870,000 viewers, aired what turned out to be its last episode on Dec. 30.

USA was already cutting back on its scripted comedies, leaving only Sirens and Playing House on its schedule.

The network also concluded the run for a pair of long-running dramas, ending Covert Affairs and White Collarlast year after five and six seasons, respectively.

The cable network, which ceded its perch atop cable primetime to ESPN in 2014, has renewed a number of series, including Royal Pains, Suits, Graceland, Satisfaction, Playing House and Chrisley Knows Best. On tap for 2015:  Dig, Mr. Robot and Complications.

The network also has four pilots in the works.
