USA Casts Emily Rose For Medical Pilot

USA has greenlit a pilot of medical drama Operating Instructions after casting Emily Rose, of NBC’s ER and ABC’s Brothers & Sisters, in the lead.

Rose, who plays new resident Dr. Tracy Martin in the current season of ER and played Lena in Brothers & Sisters, plays a top female trauma surgeon who returns home from a tour of duty to take a post as a surgeon at a military hospital, according to USA. She finds herself quickly entangled in health-care bureaucratic minefields and a completely unexpected romantic encounter.

Rose also played Cass in HBO’s John From Cincinnati (pictured), had a recurring part in CBS’s Jericho and plays Elena Fischer in the PlayStation 3 video-game “Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.“

"Emily came in and just blew us away with her energy and craft," Jeff Wachtel, USA’s executive VP of original programming and co-head of original programming at Universal Cable Productions, said in a release. "We are lucky to have such a rich talent at the center of this smart, funny and distinctive show."

Operating Instructions (working title), from Conaco and Universal Cable Productions, was written by Judd Pillot and John Peaslee (According To Jim). Executive producers are Conan O'Brien, David Kissinger, Pillot and Peaslee.
