USA Continues Ratings Roll


USA Network continued to steamroll over its basic cable network competitors as it took weekly primetime ratings honors for the fifth straight week.

The "Character's Welcome" network (which said new series Facing Katiewould debut in January) continued to ride strong performances from scripted series hits Burn Notice, Royal Pains and Covert Affairs to average 3.1 million viewers during the week of Aug. 9 to Aug. 15, besting second place Disney Channel which averaged 2.8 million watchers, according to a Disney-ABC Television Group analysis of Nielsen data.

TNT -boosted by the week's two most -atched shows, sizzling freshmanRizzoli & Isles andmainstay The Closer -- finished third with 2.3 million viewers followed by Fox News and Nick At Nite which both averaged 1.8 million viewers.
History (1.6 million viewers), ESPN (1.5 million), TBS and A&E (1.4 million), and Food Network and Syfy (1.3 million) rounded out the top 10 for the week.

MTV's reality series Jersey Shore resonated with young viewers for the week, .finishing as the most watched show among the adult 18-49 and 18-34 crowd, according to a Turner Research analysis of Nielsen data.
