USA Hoops Qualifying Games on PPV

Basketball viewers will have to pay to see if the USA "Dream Team" can gain a
spot in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.

In Demand, TVN Entertainment Corp., EchoStar Communications Corp. and DirecTV
Inc. will distribute a 10-game pay-per-view package featuring the USA basketball
team’s Americas Qualifying Tournament games, which run Aug. 20-31, PPV
executives said.

The package will retail at a suggested price of $59.95. Subscribers can
purchase individual games for $9.95 each. Operators will receive the traditional
50% split of all package and individual purchases.

The USA team -- which will compete against nine other teams from North and
South America -- will feature such National Basketball Association players as
Tracy McGrady, Tim Duncan, Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson and Karl Malone.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is also on the roster, but given recent
knee and shoulder surgery -- as well as his recent indictment on sexual-assault
charges -- it’s doubtful that he’ll participate in any way.

The USA has to finish among the top three teams to gain entry into the 2004
Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Team USA finished in an embarrassing sixth place during the 2002 World
Basketball Championships, forcing this play-in for an Olympics
