USA, HSN Team Up on Reality Show

USA Network and HSN are looking for America's undiscovered inventors and entrepreneurs.

The two networks are teaming up on reality series Made in the U.S.A., in which people will compete to sell their inventions on the home shopping network.

The networks said contestants will participate in competitions, facing real-life challenges that inventors deal with in getting their products out to the public.

Products and inventors will be eliminated each week until the ultimate payoff, when the winning team will have the chance to present their product to millions of HSN viewers.

"As we accelerate our efforts in the alternative arena, Made in the U.S.A. is the perfect show for us," USA executive vice president of original programming Jeff Wachtel said in a prepared statement.

"It's fun, it's aspirational and it speaks to the intelligence and inventiveness of our audience,” he added. “Teaming up with HSN, the electronic-retailing powerhouse, really opens the door to making a unique, attention-getting piece of reality entertainment."

"This unique project taps into the entrepreneurial side of all of us," HSN U.S. president Marty Nealon added. "Coming up with a great product idea is just the beginning."
