USA Names New Programming Exec


USA Network announced the appointment Monday of veteran television executive
and executive producer Jeff Wachtel as its new executive vice president of
series and longform programming.

Wachtel, who most recently headed television and film company Landscape
Entertainment's series-programming division, will oversee scripted series and
all movies and miniseries for the general-entertainment network, USA Networks
Inc. officials said.

In a prepared statement, USA Network president Doug Herzog said Wachtel 'will
be at the forefront of our mission to create distinctive scripted entertainment
across several areas.'

Prior to joining Landscape, Wachtel was president of Canada-based Alliance
Atlantis Television.

He also worked at Columbia TriStar Television Distribution from 1990 through
1996 as vice president of movies and miniseries and later as executive vice
president of primetime television. Under his watch, Columbia developed such
popular series as Party of Five and Dawson's
