USA Network Renews ‘Shooter’

USA Network has renewed its action drama Shooter for a second season, the network announced Monday.

The series, based on the 2007 theatrical film and starring Ryan Phillippe (Secrets and Lies) and Omar Epps (House), will return for its sophomore season in 2017, according to network officials.

So far through its first season, Shooter -- a co-production with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions -- is averaging 2.6 million viewers in Nielsen L+7 ratings, and 1 million viewers in the adult 25-54 demo.

The series is executive produced by Mark Wahlberg (Ballers), Stephen Levinson (Ballers), Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) and John Hlavin (The Shield) who also serves as showrunner.

“John Hlavin and the team behind Shooter have delivered a compelling action thriller that consistently engages a strong and loyal audience,” said Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment in a statement. “We look forward to partnering once again with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions as we follow Bob Lee into his next chapter.”
