USA Renews 'Pains,' 'Roughness' and 'Affairs'

USA Network will return all of its summer original series next year after announcing Thursday the renewals of Covert Affairs, Royal Pains and Necessary Roughness.

Covert Affairs, which stars Piper Perabo a young CIA operative, will return for a third season, while Royal Pains, in which series star Mark Feuerstein stars a go to "doctor for hire" for the Hamptons, will return for a fourth season. The pro football-themed Necessary Roughness has been renewed for its sophomore season, according to USA Network officials.

The renewals follow USA's recent season pickups of White Collar, Suits, In Plain Sight and Burn Notice.

"USA's original programming blew through all expectations this summer...we had an unprecedented number of original series on our air -- and every single one of them was great," said USA co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel in a statement. "The actors who make our shows unique aren't just stars, they are character actors in the finest sense. Our writers, directors and producers truly understand what it takes to create sustainable success. It's a rare and wonderful thing to announce the pick-up of our entire summer of programming."
