USA Network has named Ken Ober to host new late-night show Smush.
Ober (MTV: Music Television's Remote Control, Make Me Laugh)
will host the Monday-through-Thursday party-game show, in which players vie for
cash as they compete to 'smush' words together from attendant clues.
The series bows Dec. 3 at 11 p.m., according to Chris Sloan, senior vice
president of reality programming and specials at USA.
USA plans to develop a first-run late-night block from 11 p.m. to midnight.
The company recently announced that it will team up with Saturday Night
Live creator Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video on the development of a topical
Smush, which will feature model and former Playboy playmate Lisa Dergan
as scorekeeper, is based on a forthcoming CD-ROM from Jellyvision Inc., which
also made the hit CD-ROM game 'You Don't Know Jack' that spawned the NBC show of
the same name.
Smush is executive-produced by Michael Davies (Who Wants to Be a
Millionaire), Matti Leshem (ESPN's 2-Minute Drill, A&E
Network's Ultimate Reality), Michael Dugan (Remote Control) and
Harry Gottlieb (You Don't Know Jack).
