USA Tops Weekly Primetime Ratings Chart


USA Network barely took its second straight primetime weekly ratings crown last week while Disney Channel continued to pitch a summer ratings shutout on a total-day basis.

The "Characters Welcome" network averaged 2.78 million viewers to squeak out a win over TNT's 2.72 million viewer tally during the period of July 16 to July 22, according to Nielsen. Disney Channel finished a close third with 2.6 million watchers.

Fox News pulled into fourth place with 1.92 million viewers, followed by History's 1.9 million mark. A&E (1.8 million viewers) TBS (1.7 million); FX (1.6 million); and Food Network and HGTV (tied with 1.3 million) rounded out the top 10.

TNT was the most watched series among adults 18-49, while Adult Swim was the top choice of adults 18-34 for the week.

Disney Channel's 2 million average viewers topped all cable networks on a 24-hour basis for the eight consecutive week this summer, topping Nickelodeon's 1.6 million tally. Adult Swim (1.4 million), Cartoon Network (1.3 million) and Fox News (1.1 million) followed closely behind.

TNT's The Closer was the most watched show on cable last week. USA's WWEMonday Night Raw was tops among adults 18-49, Adult Swim's July 17 telecast of Family Guy ruled among adults 18-34 and A&E's Storage Wars was the biggest draw among adults 25-54 for the week, according to Nielsen.
