USA Writes Prescription for Two More 'Royal Pains' Seasons

The doctor will be in -- for two more summers.

USA Network has greenlit new seasons for Royal Pains, its Hamptons concierge doctor series, starring Mark Feuerstein, Paulo Costanzo, Reshma Shetty, Brooke D'Orsay and Ben Shenkman,

The order from Universal Cable Productions spans a pair of eight-episode seasons, with the latter highlighted by the series' 100th installment.

During its sixth season that concluded on Sept. 2, Royal Pains averaged 3.36 million watchers, according to Nielsen data.

'Royal Pains remains a staple for fun summer TV viewing, and we are pleased to bring back the series for two additional seasons,” said Chris McCumber, president of USA Network in announcing the renewal. “We’re extremely proud of both the talent and creative team, who, season after season, have brought to life to these relatable and multifaceted stories, which continue to attract a loyal fan base.”

'Royal Pains was a breakout hit from its first episode and continues to deliver for USA and our studio,” said Jeff Wachtel, President and chief content officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “It’s no easy feat to maintain a real connection with your audience season after season, but Andrew, Michael, Mark, Paulo, Reshma and the rest of team have done that and more.”

The renewal comes on the heels of a season-five announcement for USA's legal drama Suits and a second-season play for Satisfaction drama.  Both series are also from Universal Cable Productions.
