USA's 'Burn Notice' Not As Hot In Mid-Season Return

USA Network's spy drama didn't burn so brightly in its mid-season return.
Burn Notice averaged 4.3 million viewers and a 1.5 ratings among adults 18 to 49 on Nov. 11, which marked the opening installment of the middle of its fourth season. That was down 20% from the 5.4 million that watched Burn Notice's third mid-season starter on Jan. 21, 2010, a more traditional starting period for cable original series.
Thursday night's Burn Notice -- which in addition to encountering broadcast competition during a sweeps period faced strong sports competition on cable with the fifth-season kickoff of NFL Network's Thursday Night Footballand TNT's presentation of the marquee NBA matchup of the Miami Heat-Boston Celtics -- was also down 32% from the 6.3 million that tuned in the concluder of its fourth-season summer run on Aug. 26.
USA mid-season return of Psyche on Wednesday night also slipped a bit from the end of its summer run.
The Nov. 10 telecast averaged 2.8 million viewers and a 1.0 mark among adults 18 to 49, compared with 3.1` million watchers and a 1.0 against the Madison Avenue-coveted set.
