USC-Ohio State Ranks As ESPN's Most-Watched College Football Contest

ESPN's coverage of USC's 18-15 triumph over Ohio State at The Horseshoe was the network's most-watched college football ever.
The Sept 12 telecast drew a 7.3 rating, 7.2 million households and nearly 10.6 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That's the best ESPN has ever done with college pigskin and the rating was the network's best since it tackled a 7.7 rating for the Oct. 8, 1994 game between Florida State and Miami.
Speaking of the Seminoles and the Hurricanes, this year's Labor Day presentation was the worldwide leader's third most-watched college contest with 8.41 milllion viewers. The Sept. 4, 2006 matchup between theose schools ranks as the net's second most-watched college football telecast with 9.12 million watchers on average.
The Sept. 12 Trojans-Buckeyes telecast was the highest-rated program of the night among households, total viewers and in every key male and adult demographic, making ESPN the tops in TV, cable and broadcast for the night, said ESPN officials.
