V CAST Unveils Turner, Interactive Fare

Verizon Wireless added to its V CAST broadband-video-content lineup, forging deals with Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and launching a new interactive mobile series based on Fox TV hit The O.C.

Under the deal with TBS, V CAST customers will now have access to content from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Turner Classic Movies. That includes Cartoon’s The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy andThe Powerpuff Girls, as well as Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

V CAST already provides Cable News Network video clips from Now in the News and other news programs.

“We are pleased to bring Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, TCM and CNN to Verizon Wireless V CAST customers,” TBS Inc. executive vice president of business development Dennis Quinn said in a prepared statement. “This agreement extends our popular brands and enhances the consumers’ viewing experience by reaching them on multiple platforms.”

V CAST is also launching a new interactive multimedia series based on Warner Bros. Television series The O.C., which airs on Fox.

Called AtomicCounty, the mobile animated series will consist of two-minute clips, with a total of 14 episodes. It will debut later this month. In addition, V CAST will offer insider video clips from The O.C., as well as ring tones, ring-back tones, wallpaper and other related content.

“This agreement with the Warner Bros. Television Group and Fox goes beyond video content,” Verizon Wireless vice president and chief marketing officer John Stratton said. “It is about creating a multimedia, interactive engagement with the audience.”
