Former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine will become part of SNY’s on-air team.

Valentine will join the regional sports network home of the Mets as a pre- and post-game coverage analyst, beginning on Opening Day, April1 at 11:30 p.m. Valentine will be teamed with former Mets pitcher and lead studio analyst Bob Ojeda and host Chris Carlin.

Now the athletic director at Sacred Heart University and a voice on NBC Sports Radio following his stint managing the 2012 Boston Red Sox, Valentine is expected to make 12-15 appearances on SNY throughout the season on the new show, Mets First Pitch presented by Cadillac.

The program will air prior to Pepsi Pre Game Live and feature a variety of elements, including instructional segments with Ron Darling, Keith Hernandez, Ojeda and Valentine; current Mets manager Terry Collins’ pre-game presser;  exclusive one-on-one interviews with Mets players and opposing players, managers and general managers; interactive social media elements; viewer/fan phone calls; and player profiles.

Valentine managed the Mets from 1996-2002.
