Vanguards Go to Mahony, Willner


Michael Willner, president and CEO of Insight Communications Co,. and Sheila Mahony, executive vice president, communications, government and public affairs at Cablevision Systems Corp., will receive the Vanguard Award for Distinguished Leadership next month at The National Show in New Orleans

Mahony and Willner will be honored at the 2004 Vanguard Awards ceremony, scheduled for the La Louisiane Ballroom at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on May 4. The doors will open at 5 p.m. CT for the reception, with the ceremony commencing an hour later.

Each year, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association presents the Distinguished Leadership award to a man and woman who have consistently demonstrated the highest level of leadership in the cable industry.

Other Vanguard honorees for individual excellence include: Rouzbeh Yassini, founder and CEO of YAS Broadband Ventures LLC, among associates and affiliates; Ann Montgomery, regional vice president at Comcast Cable Communications, for cable operations management; Jennifer Mooney, vice president, public affairs, Cincinnati Division of Time Warner Cable; for government and community relations; and Joseph Rooney, senior vice president of marketing at Cox Communications, Inc., for marketing.

Susan Swain and Rob Kennedy, who both serve as executive vice president and co-chief operating officers of C-SPAN, are being honored with Vanguards in the programming category.

Robert Zitter, executive vice president, technology operations and chief technology officer at Home Box Office, will receive a Vanguard for science & technology, while Dallas Clement, senior vice president and development for Cox, is this year’s recipient for young leadership.
